new routes from Birmingham Airport

Last checked: 30 September 2026

Birmingham Airport has a long list of new routes starting over the next year. The first launches come in late October 2026: EgyptAir’s direct flights to Cairo and easyJet’s service to Agadir both start on 27 October. For summer 2027, easyJet adds Milan Malpensa and Tivat in Montenegro, while Jet2 adds Tunisia, Jersey and the Greek island of Thassos. Ryanair also has five new winter routes.

This guide lists every confirmed new route, with the airline, start date and frequency where they’ve been announced. It also covers practical tips for the first weeks of each new service, including how to get to BHX for an early departure.

New routes this winter (from late October 2026)

Cairo with EgyptAir

EgyptAir launches the Midlands’ only direct link to the Egyptian capital on 27 October 2026. Flights run four times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

Birmingham becomes EgyptAir’s third UK destination, after London and Manchester. The route suits holidaymakers heading to the pyramids, business travellers, and people visiting friends and family. It also offers onward connections through Cairo.

Agadir with easyJet

easyJet’s new twice-weekly service to Agadir starts on 27 October 2026. Agadir is a winter-sun resort on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, and easyJet holidays also offers package breaks there.

Five new Ryanair routes

Ryanair has added five new routes from Birmingham for winter 2026/27:

  • Copenhagen, for a Scandinavian city break
  • Rome Fiumicino, a new Rome airport option for Ryanair passengers from BHX
  • Marrakech, for winter sun and a Moroccan city break
  • Tirana, the Albanian capital
  • Warsaw Modlin, north of the Polish capital

Ryanair hasn’t confirmed exact start dates and frequencies for all five, so check its timetable before planning around them.

Jet2’s winter additions

Jet2 is adding Copenhagen, Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada to its Birmingham winter programme for 2026/27. The two Red Sea resorts already have direct flights from Birmingham with other airlines, so these routes are new to Jet2 rather than new to the airport. Jet2’s Hurghada flights from Birmingham are listed to begin in February 2027.

Jet2 has also put winter trips to Iceland on sale from Birmingham for 2026/27, with flights and city breaks.

New routes for summer 2027

Milan Malpensa with easyJet

easyJet starts flying to Milan Malpensa on 29 March 2027, twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. easyJet says it will be the only airline flying direct between Birmingham and Malpensa. Milan is a gateway to Lake Como and northern Italy, as well as a major business destination.

easyJet’s new route to Tivat, on Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor, starts on 3 May 2027. Flights run twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays, giving easy access to the old town of Kotor and the Adriatic coast.

Tunisia with Jet2

Jet2 flights and holidays to Tunisia start on 1 May 2027 and run until 30 October 2027. The flights serve Enfidha, the gateway to beach resorts such as Hammamet.

Jersey with Jet2

Jet2 adds Jersey for summer 2027, with three flights a week from 2 May to 10 October. It’s a short hop for a Channel Islands break without a ferry.

Thassos with Jet2

Jet2 is launching holidays to the Greek island of Thassos for summer 2027, from 12 May to 29 September. Flights go to Kavala, on the Greek mainland, with Thassos a short trip across the water.

Routes that launched earlier in 2026

Several routes already launched from Birmingham this year:

  • TUI to Tirana, twice weekly from April 2026
  • Jet2 to Palermo, on Wednesdays from May to October 2026

This winter, Ryanair’s Tirana flights give travellers a second airline on that route.

Tips for flying on a brand-new route

  • Book early for launch dates. New routes often run just two or three times a week, so seats on popular days sell quickly.
  • Check the exact day of the week. With twice-weekly flights, choosing the wrong day can mean waiting several days for the next one.
  • Look again nearer the time. Airlines sometimes change schedules for a new route in its first season.
  • Check entry rules. Travel to Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Albania and Montenegro has its own passport and entry requirements. Check the Foreign Office travel advice for each country before you go.

Getting to Birmingham Airport for your new route

Many of the new winter routes start at the end of October. That’s half-term week in Birmingham, running from 26 to 30 October, and it comes just after a planned weekend M42 closure near the airport from 23 to 26 October. If you’re on one of the first flights to Cairo or Agadir on 27 October, allow extra time to reach the airport.

A pre-booked taxi takes the guesswork out of early departures. Our Birmingham Airport transfers include flight monitoring, so your pickup adjusts if your return flight lands early or late. Your driver meets you inside the terminal with a name board. For flights leaving before public transport starts, our guide to late-night and early-morning taxis explains how these bookings work.

Families and groups

Summer 2027 routes to Tunisia, Thassos and Jersey are popular with families. The Mercedes V-Class seats up to seven passengers, with room for holiday luggage.

Business travellers

New links to Cairo and Milan will interest business travellers across the Midlands. Our corporate travel service invoices journeys monthly, which is useful when several colleagues fly on the same account.

We collect from across the region, including through our Birmingham taxi service. Our coverage area page lists every town we serve. Airport fares are fixed when you book, and our guide to fixed-price and metered taxis explains why that helps you budget.
