NET Airport Transfers runs pre-booked Bristol Airport transfers from Birmingham and across the Midlands, with the fare fixed when you book. From Birmingham, Bristol Airport is roughly 95 to 100 miles away, and the drive usually takes about one hour 45 minutes to two hours in normal traffic. Journeys from Worcestershire and Herefordshire are noticeably shorter.
This page explains the route and how to time your pickup. It also covers how drop-off and pickup work at the airport, and what to tell us when you book, for outbound flights and for your journey home.

Why fly from Bristol if you live in the Midlands?
Birmingham Airport is closest for most of the West Midlands, but it doesn’t always have the route, date or fare you need. Bristol has a strong low-cost schedule to European holiday destinations. Sometimes it’s simply the airport with the right flight.
It’s also closer than many people expect for parts of the southern Midlands. From Hereford, Ross-on-Wye or Ledbury, for example, Bristol can be a similar or shorter drive than Birmingham, depending on your exact address. Compare the total cost and travel time for each airport before you book a flight. If Birmingham works out better, our Birmingham Airport transfers are the obvious alternative.
How long does a transfer to Bristol Airport take?
From Birmingham and the West Midlands
Most journeys take the M5 south, past Worcester and Gloucester, towards Bristol. The last stretch leaves the motorway and uses the A38 or local roads through the countryside south of the city. Bristol Airport sits on high ground at Lulsgate, several miles south-west of the city, so it isn’t right beside the motorway.
From Worcestershire and Herefordshire
Pickups from Worcester, Malvern, Evesham and Pershore join the M5 further south, which saves time compared with starting in Birmingham. From Hereford and the surrounding area, drivers often head south-east towards the M50 and join the M5 near Tewkesbury. We’ll confirm a pickup time for your address when you book.
Where delays usually happen
The M5 around Bristol is often slow at peak times, especially where it meets the M4 at Almondsbury and near Avonmouth. Friday afternoons and the start of school holidays add more traffic. For early flights, we plan pickups with a margin for delays rather than relying on the best-case journey time.
Planning your pickup time
Work back from your departure time. Start with your airline’s check-in and bag drop deadline, then allow time for security, then add the drive. Finally, include a buffer for traffic.
Many holiday flights from Bristol leave early in the morning, which can mean leaving the Midlands in the middle of the night. Our guide to late-night and early-morning taxis explains how those bookings work. With a pre-booked car, your driver is confirmed long before you need to set off.
Where taxis drop off and pick up at Bristol Airport
The Drop Off & Pick Up car park
Bristol Airport has no free kerbside drop-off outside the terminal. Instead, cars use the Drop Off & Pick Up car park next to the terminal. Since 5 January 2026, the charge has been £8.50 for up to 10 minutes, and it rises to £10.50 for 10 to 20 minutes.
With NET Airport Transfers, the price you agree when you book is what you pay. Nothing is added afterwards.
The free Waiting Zone
The Waiting Zone, next to the Car Rental Centre, is free for up to an hour. It isn’t beside the terminal, though, so passengers take a free shuttle bus. The airport says the shuttle runs every 15 minutes and takes about five minutes. That’s fine with light bags, but less practical with lots of luggage, children or anyone with limited mobility.
No stopping on the approach roads
The roads around the terminal are red routes. Stopping to drop off or pick up is not allowed, and drivers who stop face a £100 penalty. Every drop-off and pickup has to happen in one of the designated car parks.
Clean Air Zone and route choice
Bristol has a charging Clean Air Zone covering a wide area of the city centre. Vehicles that meet the emissions standards aren’t charged. Some routes to the airport cross the zone, while others avoid it. Your driver chooses the route based on traffic on the day.
Because your fare is fixed, the route doesn’t change what you pay. Our comparison of fixed-price and metered taxis explains why that matters on longer journeys.
Getting home: airport pickups at Bristol
For arrivals, we monitor your flight rather than relying on the scheduled time, so an early landing or a delay moves your pickup with it. Share your flight number when you book, and turn your phone on when you land.
If you’d like your driver to meet you inside the terminal, ask when you book. Otherwise, we’ll agree a pickup point in the Drop Off & Pick Up car park. If your bags are slow or your flight is badly delayed, send us a message and we’ll adjust the timing.
Bristol Airport sits on high ground, so low cloud and fog occasionally delay flights or divert them to other airports. If your flight is diverted, contact us as soon as you know where it’s landing, and we’ll discuss the next steps.

Taxi or train and bus from the Midlands?
There’s no railway station at Bristol Airport. From Birmingham, the public transport route is a train to Bristol Temple Meads, then the Airport Flyer A1 bus. The airport lists an adult single fare on the A1 of £9.50.
| Train and bus suit you if… | A pre-booked taxi suits you if… |
|---|---|
| You’re travelling alone with light luggage | You’re travelling as a family or group |
| You live near a mainline station | Your home is away from a station |
| Your flight leaves during the day | Your flight leaves early or lands late |
| You don’t mind changing at Temple Meads | You’d rather go door to door without changes |
Choosing the right vehicle
- Up to three passengers: the Mercedes E-Class suits couples and small families with standard holiday luggage.
- Families and groups of up to seven: the Mercedes V-Class keeps everyone together, with room for suitcases.
- Business travellers: the S-Class gives you a quieter space to work on the way.
Tell us how many suitcases you’re bringing, as well as how many passengers. Luggage often decides the vehicle more than passenger numbers do. Child seats are available on request, so mention them when you book.
