Birmingham Airport offers day-before bag drop for four airlines: easyJet, Jet2.com, Ryanair and TUI. If you’re on an eligible early flight, you can check your hold luggage in the evening, then go straight to security the next morning with just your hand luggage. The opening hours, eligible flight times and check-in zones differ by airline, so check yours before you set off.
This guide covers each airline’s twilight check-in times and where to go in the terminal. It also explains the reduced parking tariff and helps you decide whether the extra evening trip is worth it, including if you’re travelling by taxi.
Day-before bag drop at Birmingham Airport by airline
| Airline | Evening drop-off times | Eligible flights next day | Check-in zone |
|---|---|---|---|
| easyJet | 16:00 to 20:00 | Departing before 09:00 | Zone B |
| Jet2.com | 16:30 to 21:00 | Departing before 12:00 | Zone A |
| Ryanair | 17:00 to 21:00 | Departing up to 09:00 | Zone B |
| TUI | 14:00 to 21:00 | Departing before 12:00 | Zone B |
These are the times Birmingham Airport publishes. The service runs daily, but airlines can change their arrangements, so check your airline’s website before you travel.
Once you’re in the terminal, look at the screens to find which desk is being used for your airline’s twilight service.
How each airline’s service works
easyJet
easyJet launched Twilight Bag Drop at Birmingham in January 2026. The service is free and open to passengers on flights leaving before 9am. You can drop bags between 4pm and 8pm the evening before, then head straight to security the next morning.
Jet2.com
Jet2’s Twilight Check-in at Birmingham runs from 4.30pm to 9pm and covers flights leaving before midday the next day. Its desks are in Zone A, where Jet2 is based, rather than Zone B. Check Jet2’s twilight page for the latest terms before you go.
Ryanair
Ryanair passengers on flights up to 9am the next day can drop bags between 5pm and 9pm in Zone B. Some articles quote a later 7pm to 10pm window, but that’s Ryanair’s service at Manchester, not Birmingham.
TUI
TUI has the longest window at Birmingham, from 2pm to 9pm, for flights with TOM or BY flight numbers leaving before midday. Bring your passport and travel documents with you, as TUI asks for them when you drop your bags.
Parking for twilight bag drop
Birmingham Airport offers a reduced tariff in Premium Set Down for twilight passengers. The price depends on how you booked your holiday parking:
| How you booked holiday parking | First 60 minutes | After 60 minutes |
|---|---|---|
| Directly with Birmingham Airport | Free | £8 per 15 minutes |
| Through a third-party provider, or not booked | £8 | £8 per 15 minutes |
The reduced rate isn’t applied automatically. After you’ve dropped your bags, visit the Customer Service Cabin in Premium Set Down with:
- your checked-in luggage receipt or boarding pass
- your vehicle registration number
- your Birmingham Airport parking booking confirmation, if you booked directly
If you’re not on the free tariff, you still pay through Post Pay, a payment machine or a pre-registered AutoPay account. Leave the car park within 60 minutes to keep the cost down.
Is day-before bag drop worth it?
When it helps most
- Very early flights. Dropping bags the night before takes a queue out of a 5am start.
- Families with lots of luggage. You can deal with suitcases, car seats and pushchairs in a quieter terminal.
- Travellers who live close to BHX. A short evening trip is easy to fit in.
- Anyone combining it with an overnight stay. If you’re staying at an airport hotel, you can drop your bags and settle in for the night.
When it may not be worth it
- You live far from the airport. Two return trips can cost more time than a morning queue saves.
- Your flight is later than the cut-off. For example, easyJet and Ryanair only cover early departures.
- You need things in your case overnight. Once your bags are checked in, you can’t get them back until you land.
Pack for the night before
Anything you check in the evening is gone until your destination, so plan your hand luggage carefully:
- Keep medication, chargers and valuables in your hand luggage.
- Set aside clothes for the morning, and toiletries that meet the airport’s liquid rules.
- Keep your passport and travel documents with you for both trips.
- Photograph your bag and keep the luggage receipt safe.
- Check your airline’s hand luggage allowance, since you’ll be carrying more than usual.
Twilight bag drop by taxi
If you don’t drive, the twilight service means two separate airport trips: one in the evening with your cases, and one the next morning with just your hand luggage. The morning trip is lighter, but it still needs to get you to the airport in good time for security and boarding.
A pre-booked taxi works well for both. On the evening trip, the driver can drop you close to check-in, wait while you drop your bags, and take you home. The morning pickup can then be timed around security rather than bag drop. Tell us when you book that you’re using twilight check-in, so we can plan both journeys together.
For groups or families with lots of luggage, the Mercedes V-Class seats up to seven passengers and has room for cases on the evening trip.
Where taxis drop off
At Birmingham Airport, taxis can drop off at Premium Set Down outside the terminal, or at the Drop Off car park, about 400 metres away via a covered walkway. With heavy cases, Premium Set Down is closer to check-in. With NET Airport Transfers, the price you agree when you book is what you pay, with nothing added afterwards.
If you’d like both trips arranged at a fixed price, you can get a quote online and mention twilight check-in in your booking notes.
Or skip the evening trip
If the extra journey doesn’t suit you, a single early-morning pickup is often simpler. Our guide to late-night and early-morning taxis explains how bookings work when public transport isn’t running. See our main Birmingham Airport transfers page for how drop-offs and arrival pickups work.
What to expect on the morning of your flight
With your bags already checked in, go straight to security with your boarding pass and hand luggage. You still need to allow enough time for security and to reach the gate before boarding closes. Check-in desks being empty doesn’t mean the rest of the airport will be quiet at 5am.
If your flight time changes overnight, contact your airline. Your bags are already in the system and follow your booking, but you should confirm the new timings.
Which pickup areas we cover
We run pre-booked taxis to Birmingham Airport from across the region. Evening bag drop trips are quickest from nearby areas, such as our Solihull taxi service and Birmingham taxi service. Our coverage area page lists every town we serve.
For longer journeys, a fixed fare helps you budget for two trips. Our guide to fixed-price and metered taxis explains the difference.
Book your Birmingham Airport taxi
