Taxi Service for Stratford's Two Stations

Stratford-upon-Avon has a transport pattern most towns its size don’t: two separate railway stations serving different journeys, and a theatre that empties out several hundred people at once most nights of the week, often after the last bus has gone. A taxi service in Stratford-upon-Avon needs to know which station someone means before they’ve finished the sentence, and needs to be genuinely available late, not just in theory. That’s the two things this page is really about — everything else, from Shottery to the airport run, follows from getting those right.

Our commitment to excellence

Station Taxi — Which One to Book

Stratford-upon-Avon railway station, in the town centre near Alcester Road, is the older of the two and sits on the North Warwickshire Line and the Leamington–Stratford line, served mainly by West Midlands Railway with some Chiltern Railways services. Stratford-upon-Avon Parkway, a couple of miles north near the A46, is a newer station that opened in 2013 specifically to give Chiltern Railways passengers a faster, more direct run to London Marylebone, with its own large park-and-ride at Bishopton built for several hundred cars. Commuters heading to London tend to prefer Parkway; anyone heading into central Birmingham, or connecting onward through our Birmingham Airport transfers route, is usually better off from the town-centre station. Telling us which one you mean, or simply telling us your destination, saves a wasted trip more often than you’d expect.

A Taxi Waiting After the RSC

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the neighbouring Swan Theatre, both on Waterside by the river, are the single biggest driver of evening taxi demand in Stratford. Between the two venues, the Royal Shakespeare Company puts on around twenty productions a year, and a full house from either building at once is a lot of people trying to get home, to a hotel, or to a station within the same twenty minutes. The last trains back to Birmingham and London leave Stratford well before midnight, which means anyone at a later performance needs a car rather than a train. Book online with your performance and expected finish time, and your driver will be outside when the doors open rather than found once you’re already standing in a queue.

Shottery & Nearby Villages

Shottery, about a mile west of the town centre, is best known for Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, and a taxi there from the station is one of our steadier daytime bookings, quicker than the walk and useful for anyone visiting on a tight schedule between Shottery and Shakespeare’s Birthplace in town. Tiddington, on the eastern side of the river, and Welcombe, up towards the golf course and hotel of the same name, are both close enough to be routine bookings. Bishopton, home to the Parkway park-and-ride, comes up constantly as a drop-off for commuters, and the same back lanes connecting these villages also lead out towards our taxi service in Alcester, a market town we cover separately just a short drive further on.

Airport Taxi to Birmingham

Birmingham Airport is the one most Stratford passengers fly from, generally around 18 to 20 miles away and a 40 to 45 minute drive via the A439, A46 and M40, traffic through Warwick and around the M42 junctions depending. Your flight is tracked from the point you book, so if it lands early or is delayed, your pickup adjusts without you needing to call and explain the change. For Heathrow, Manchester or another major airport, the same tracking and meet-and-greet applies, just with a longer drive to reach it.

What Our Passengers Say

Book Your Taxi — How It Works

Once you’ve told us your pickup point, destination and time, you get a fixed price back — that’s what you pay, whatever the traffic through town or on the M40 does on the day. A driver is assigned to your specific booking ahead of time rather than found from whoever’s free once you’re already waiting outside the theatre or on the platform, whether you’re flying via Manchester Airport or catching a delayed train. If you’re booking around a performance or a train, we work to the actual finish or arrival time, and if your plans shift afterwards, a message is enough to update things without starting again.

Taxi for Race Days & Day Trips

Stratford has its own racecourse on the southern edge of town, and race days bring a predictable spike in short local bookings that’s worth planning around, booking ahead avoids the scrum of everyone trying to find a taxi at once. On the business side, Stratford Enterprise Park and the Avenue Farm and Masons Road industrial estates account for a steady flow of staff and visitor transport, and businesses moving people regularly can set up a corporate account rather than approving trips one at a time. Stratford is also a common base for Cotswolds day trips, Chipping Campden, Broadway and the surrounding villages are all within easy reach, and a fair number of visitors without a car of their own book a driver for the full day rather than piece together limited local bus routes.

Long Distance Taxi  Warwick & Beyond

Warwick and Leamington Spa are both close enough to be routine bookings from Stratford, whether that’s a connecting train, a day out, or a hospital appointment. Coventry and Kenilworth both come up regularly too, the latter often paired with a visit to Kenilworth Castle alongside Stratford’s own Shakespeare sites. Longer journeys further afield, to London, Manchester or elsewhere in the UK, are priced and booked on the same fixed-fare basis as anything local.
